About Us
Windmill Ag is a proud Machinery Dealer, with a long history since 1964 of servicing Western Victoria; and more recently Gippsland.

The business derived from humble beginnings as a service station in Hamilton, owner operated by Menno Peltzer, the founder of Windmill Ag. Menno, a man of integrity, soon began dealing in farm machinery with franchises in the early days such as David Brown, Deutz and Chamberlain. In 1976 Menno took on the John Deere franchise, as a follow on from John Deere purchasing the Chamberlain Tractor Company. The John Deere franchise thrust the small service station/machinery dealership into a whole new world, more staff and building upgrades were required to manage the rapid increase in business.
In 1994 Paul Thomas joined the company as a partner and along with Menno set up a new dealership (from the grou nd up) in Terang, approx 50km east of Warrnambool. This new dealership soon grew to become a recognised supplier of not only John Deere equipment, but a supplier of many quality products. 2001 brought about the retirement of Menno Peltzer from the business; selling his share of the business to a new partner, Phil van Wegen. Phil’s role was to manage the Hamilton dealership and build on the already strong brand name and the loyal following Menno had created over many years of business. Windmill Ag was now in a new phase of growth. More staff were required to meet the ever growing demands of it’s loyal customer base. Windmill Ag took on new franchises to support its core range of equipment, to satisfy the needs of an ever increasing client base. Windmill Ag are now well known for their diverse range of equipment to suit most farming practices.
In 2003 Windmill Ag expanded again with the purchase of Meeniyan Tractor Service from Warren Rich in South Gippsland, established in 1963. Jason Henry came on board as a fellow share holder in the company and manager of the Gippsland operation. This dealership has grown to be the strongest machinery dealership in the South Gippsland region, supporting and supplying a vast range of equipment over diverse farming sectors. The Ballarat Dealership was added to the Windmill Ag Group in 2006 when the business was purchased from Peter Stevens Machinery. This now gave Windmill Ag a solid footprint across Victoria with dealerships diversifying into many different farming practices. The purchase of the Ballarat Dealership launched Windmill Ag into the broad acre market with the company gaining expertise in Harvester and Seeding equipment. Based out of the Ballarat branch is an Industrial department with the focus on selling construction equipment such as Bobcat and Liugong. These products are sold at each location but managed from the Ballarat dealership.
In 2008 Windmill Ag branched out and purchased a longstanding truck repair centre Max Todd Motors. When Windmill Ag built their new purpose built facility in Hamilton they relocated and incorporated the Max Todd Motor’s business into the new facility, giving the Transport division one of the best workshops to operate out of in the Western District. Today Max Todd Motor’s operates out of this facility servicing and repairing trucks, trailers and buses, as well as doing road worthy inspections. 2011 has seen the last of the extensive building up grades with the South Gippsland dealership moving from Meeniyan to a brand new location built 7 minutes away at a site adjoining the Koonwarra sale yards.

Windmill Ag now has all of its dealerships in modern well located facilities that better suit the environment that we operate in today. The company employs around 100 staff across Victoria, covering Sales, Parts and Service. The business is supported by a very reliable administration team that assist with the day to day running of the company and allow our ground staff to better service our customers.
